Hello Folks !
Windows XP Pro Image Resizer from XP Power Toys.
I am trying to resize several pictures in a folder at the
same time. Like do a batch. When I Hilight the pictures
and click resize a window opens up with Re Size options
and also in the same window is 'advance'. If I want to
maintain the same ratio so I donot distort the
Pictures..do I have to calculate the 2 numbers...example
if I just enter 400 in the first box will it automatically
calculate the other. Please help.
Regards !

Kirti,
Hey, here's the steps I do for XP Image Resizing of
photos:
Select your picture(s) (single or group)
Click on RESIZE IMAGES
Choose 800X600 (assuming that's the display size you
prefer for your desktop)
Click MAKE PICTURES SMALLER BUT NOT LARGER
Click RESIZE ORIGINALS (IF YOU WANT TO)
Click OK
That should do it! Piece of cake!

Dear Twila :
True and Thanks for your reply.....I do exactly like that.
But I need to resize to like 400 by something which in my
case would be a smaller number than 400 to maintain the
image and prevent distortion. The advance tab in the
window gives that option. how do I come up with the second
set of numbers...or does the Image Resizer do it
automatically.
Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks !

At the advanced tab...enter the same number in each
field and this will insure that regargless of the rotation
of the images, (landscape or portrait) the longest side
of every image will be the number you entered.
(Aspect Ratio will be maintained)

These resized images will appear in the same folder
with your originals. I would not suggest that you check
the "Resize the original pictures" box. This way your
originals would be overwritten.

Hello John :
Thanks ! If I enter the same number in each field in the
advanced tab then the end result of a Circle will be a
Circle correct. And not an oval after resize takes place.
That means there wont be any distortion.

====================================
It means the aspect ratio will be correct. A circle
will still be a circle. The reason that entering the
same number in both fields is important is that
regardless of the rotation (portrait or landscape)
the images will all be the same size. I don't know
what else to tell you. Try it and look at the results
....you will still have your originals if you are not
satisfied.
