Image Quality Poor on Internet

Hi,

I cannot seem to get Internet Explorer 6 set up so that
the photographs and graphics that are downloaded are not
compressed. The image quality is poor. Text quality is
crystal clear. I have not found any differences in the
settings between my old and new systems. My old system
works correctly with Explorer 6. Is there anyone who can
give me direction? Is the problem explorer or is there
an ISP setting that might be causing the problem?

Can you define "compressed" and "quality is poor" for everyone before they
venture a guess? Also, what are the difference between old and new systems,
particularly the display equipment and display dimensions?

Hi,

I was just assuming that the graphics might be compressed
since I have read a few articles with similar problems.
I know AOL members can have an image quality problem if
they don't have the graphics settings set correctly.
I've been thinking the problem I am having might be
similar but I am on Comcast not AOL. The problem - jpegs
and gifs are pixelated. The pixels are too big as if the
the picture is being compressed in some manner as when
you change a photo from 100 MB to 50 MB. I noticed they
are stored blurry in the temporary internet file. My new
system is a Dell laptop with a WUXGA screen and a GeForce
4 4200 Go AGP 4x Graphics Card.

I believe that I'm experiencing the same problem. The same graphic
(for example the main google logo:
http:\\www.google.com\images\logo.gif) shows up blurry in IE6 but
clear in other viewers. IE seems to be rendering the images to
slightly larger dimensions resulting in rough edges and a blocky
appearance.
