I build deployment images for my company, supporting about 1500 machines. In
XP SP2, I cannot get items mainly surrounding Internet Explorer to "stick" as
I could previously with Windows 2000. After Sysprep and Ghost, most of my
preferences are sticking, but it's turning back on the pop-up blocker in IE,
and placing default links back into Favorites, resetting the homepage to
msn.com, and adding icons for "Tour Windows, Program Access and Defaults"
etc. to the Start Menu...also adding Administrative Tools...it's maddening.
It's also going through the wizard again for Media Player. Used to be I
could run through the wizard in my dummy profile, copy it to default user and
it would stick.
Other preferences are sticking: turned off animated character in Search,
Control Panel is classic style, Windows look and feel is classic, firewall is
off (disabled service).
