Image appearing in a document?

I have a question about Word and sending files to someone. I am using Word
2003 and I have a resume set up with the text in the body and so my name
comes out the way I want it to look I have my name and contact information in
the header and it is all a jpg image. I emailed a resume to someone and they
told me the contact information is no in my document. I emailed the same file
to some friends and it came out fine for them. Now I know when I open the
document it takes a second after the documents opens to see the picture in
the header. I'm wondering if it's possible for virus programs to possibly
strip images inside of documents out? Is there a reason why someone might not
be able to see the information in the header?

Sensible people choose to receive all emails as plain text, in part because
embedded graphics are a source of viruses and spam responses. Send your
resume as a PDF.

The plain text emails would have an effect on it even though it is inside the
document itself?

Plain text is just that: plain text. No graphics, no formatting, no HTML.
Just text.

So plain text will not allow any kind of formated email attachments to come
through? Even though the person has chosen to open it? I have changed mine to
plain text and the attachment comes out fine.

Make sure that the image is actually embedded in your document and not
linked.

Yeah it is embedded. The pic isn't even on my computer anymore, plus the
friends I emailed it to as a test after hearing it wasn't there, it worked
for them. I'm thinking it's something on the persons system or Word options
they have. Don't know. Weird.

I wonder whether it's because the recipient who couldn't see the
header had "white space between pages" turned off
(http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/WhiteSpace.htm). That would hide
the entire header, no matter whether it was text or graphics.

Good thought, Jay! I remember how stunned I was the first time I used a
document with header elements on the *side* of the page to find that they
are also hidden when you hide the "white space."
