Hi, wall1216.

Who is your ISP? That is, where do you send your check each month for
Internet service? You cable company? Phone company? Yahoo? Or...?? What
is the part of your email address AFTER the "@" symbol? In my Sig below,
you see (e-mail address removed); this means that my ISP is Grande Communications
here in San Marcos. Who is your ISP?

Ask them.

Yahoo! isn't an ISP!

Communications here in San Marcos. Who is your ISP?

In my headers, you see that my email address is in the 'aosake.net' domain.
There is no ISP using the 'aosake.net' domain! ;)

where do i find my pop3 and smpt name

Start with your email service. In which domain is your email address? The
one I use for posting is 'aosake.net'. My mail server name is, 'megumi'.
Yours will depend upon your email service provider (which may, or may not be
the same as your ISP).

Knowing your email service, you can check with them regarding the details of
setting up email. Outbound is normally an SMTP message submission server.
Inbound will depend on the nature of the email service, and may be:

POP3 (with, or without SSL)
IMAP (with, or withoug SSL)
HTTPMail (Windodws Live only; 'hotmail.com', 'live.com', or 'msn.com')

Hi, Norman.

Gomennasai, ne! (It's been 50 years since I tried to spell that, so I hope
it's close enough. :^{ )

Thanks for the corrections.

You still need an email address, and it can't be @microsoft.com (which
only Microsoft employees can use).
Tell us the part of your email address after the @ symbol, and we should
be able to help you.

If you don't have an email address, you can get a free one from Hotmail
or from Gmail.

If you prefer using Hotmail via your web browser, apply this fix:
(This will make Hotmail your default email service.)

http://www.winhelponline.com/articl...e-Default-Programs-tool-in-Windows-Vista.html

Alternatively, you can set up your Hotmail account in Windows Mail.
Follow the settings given here:
http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!CC9301187A51FE33!49799.entry
Use port 587 rather than port 25 for the SMTP server.

Although it accepts the newer Live.com addresses, Windows Mail's
account setup wizard is hard-coded to reject Hotmail and MSN addresses.
To get around that, when you enter your Hotmail/MSN email address initially,
use a fake one, such as (e-mail address removed). After the account setup is complete,
go back and correct your email address.

Note: Do not post your complete email address in a public forum or else
spammers will harvest it. I only asked for the part after the @ symbol.
