Check the Gutenberg library....

For instance, using the site from quoted message below, then doing a search
on titles starting with "The Qur'an" --
http://digital.library.upenn.edu/webbin/book/search?tmode=start&title=The+Qur'an

:: Project Gutenberg has The Bible available as a text file. You can download
:: it and open it in yBook which is a freeware ebook reader.
::
:: Go here for the Bible text:
:: http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/webbin/gutbook/lookup?num=30
::
:: And here to download YBook:
:: http://www.spacejock.com/yBook.html
::
:: Please note that the Bible is a big book and will take a while to load and
:: index in yBook even on a powerful computer. You can of course open the
:: text in an editor or word processor also which would give you the search
:: option you need.
::
:: While I'm at it, yBook is great for all the litterature available from
:: Project Gutenberg.

There is a book by Lao-Tzu (Lao-Tse) called Tao-te-Ching which is even
more translated to other languages than the Bible.

Often called "The most influential book in the history of mankind."

You can find hundreds of different translations from chinese into english
on the web.

StartNow Hyperbar Toolbar.

I feel honour bound to add a follow up to my own post, in case I have
inadvertently impugned the innocent. This is an extract from a report on a
scan by the new Microsoft Antispyware Scanner:

StartNow Hyperbar Toolbar more information...

Status: Removed
High threat - High risk threats typically are remotely exploitable
vulnerabilities, which can lead to system compromise. Successful
exploitation does not normally require any interaction. May open up

anti-spy counter measures. May us a security flaw in the operating system
to gain access to your computer.

However, this is information which I found at Sysinfo.org relating to
CLISIDs associated with that spyware:

{4B2F5308-2CB0-40E2-8030-59936ED5D22C} X BHO Hyperbar.dll StartNow/HyperBar

I'm no expert on these things, but I can see no match there. Perhaps
someone else can? Perhaps KHaled, or the author of the Qur'an viewer would
care to comment?

So, I reserve judgment on this for now, but I'm rather inclined to suspect
a false alert by the Microsoft application, as I already have proof of
other false alerts it has raised on this system.

For what it's worth, and on the basis of what I've found, I rather think
I'll be ditching the Microsoft Antispyware Scanner sooner rather than
later.

Cheers,

I downloaded and installed the software before recommending
it, and I had no alerts. I am running S&D and AntiVir. As
to MS Spyware software, I have that too, and it did not
report anything.

Talking of MS Spyware, as I type, it is trying to access
locations such as GIANT, Verisign, and ofcourse MS sites.. I
wonder why ?? Will hold off dumping it for a while.

It's interesting that Microsoft's software didn't find the
hyperbar.dll which actually does the work. Only two conclusions
possible: either Antispyware is prone to false alarms, or it's so
crappily coded that it doesn't remove essential components of spyware
it claims to find.

So, I reserve judgment on this for now, but I'm rather inclined to suspect
a false alert by the Microsoft application, as I already have proof of

Very sensible.

I downloaded it but decided not to install it. Microsoft's release
software is full of bugs, so one needs to be very careful of stuff
they officially call a beta.

Why? It's proven to be prone to false alarms and it now appears to be
trying to send God knows what data from your machine to all and
sundry. With excellent programs like Ad-Aware and Spybot around, I
can't imagine why anyone would want to risk Microsoft's software, and
beta software at that. I'm kicking myself for simply downloading it.

It beats me why it picked on those innocent, as far as I can tell, CLSID
entries to take a dislike to, it just did. Evidently it liked yours!

Microsoft just bought Giant, so that doesn't seem too untoward. Who knows
why it calls back. It might be checking for updates, interested in how many
copies of the application are still live, or almost anything I suppose. You
could try running a packet sniffer, if you can interpret the results,
decide to trust the supplier, or dump it. I went for the last option,
mainly because there were so many false positives it was a positive
hindrance to getting anything done on this machine. I've wasted too much
time on it! :)

Roy

Do what I did. Download Microsoft Antispyware. Don't allow it to
connect to the Internet during the install process. Open it up and
turn off *everything* -- all the features that are on by default,
many of which have to do with active connections to the Internet
behind your back, such as the auto-update. Then go into "msconfig"
and turn off the file that causes MS Antispyware to start up each
time you boot your computer. The result will be a very
well-behaved anti-spyware software that does what it's told, when
you tell it to.
