I'm going crazy!! Random CRC?! Help me please

I'm having a huge problem with the computer at work that I just bought.
I've been testing this pile of junk for four days now with no results.

I tested memory first with memtest, no errors.
Did full diagnostics with seagate seatools, no errors.

Something obviously is broken though..

I get random crc errors. It seems to write the information correctly when
copying things to the harddrive, but it reads incorrectly. I get the same
result from two different harddrives on two different controllers (one
SATA-II controller and one EIDE controller).

I can test this by for example copying a rar archive. Then run a sfv checker
to see if the files have crc errors. And each time I run this check I get crc
errors placed randomly among the files, each time.
I have copying from cd, copying from ftp, copying from internet, same thing,
same result.

I've tried just for fun downloading 3dmark06, installed it just fine. Then I
copied the installation software to different locations on the harddrive,
then run it again, crc errors.

It also took me three tries installing windows before it wanted to run
properly. First time it didnt even boot, second time it crashed after a
windows update, third time it seems to work.

Also, another thing I tested, I copied files from the cd to the sata-II
harddrive, the computer went "beep" and restarted..?

Anyway, I'm tired and I just want to throw this piece of crap out the window
now.. I'll send lots of positive thoughts and love to the person who can help
me with this )

Here's the components I have put together:
- Intel Pentium D 930 3.0GHz Socket LGA775, 4MB with boxed fan

Sounds like memory or mobo\cpu problem to me. Try running memory testers for
a while. The fault might not show up all the time. Try swapping known good
memory. If you have another computer swap the mobo or try all the componants
in another computer. You did run full set of tests on the hard drive with
the manufacturers tools.

Please repost if you find the fault

Chuck the motherboard. There is noise somewhere and its probably gonna die.
I had one like that about a year ago. Cannot recall the board now though.

Did you buy this prebuilt or did you assemble the computer? If prebuilt,
try resetting the BIOS settings back to their defaults, especially in the
memory and disk drive type categories, if you assembled it, then verify
you've set all the settings correctly and the CPU has not been
'overclocked' - any of these "could" cause an issue similar to what you've
describe. If all these things are correct, then as Glen and Brian have both
stated, it sounds like some type of hardware issue - memory, I-O controller
(although you say you tested 2 controllers or did you use test both
connections on the same controller) on the Mobo, the Mobo circuitry itself),
cable, the drives themselves (though you tried 2 drives).

Thanks for all your help guys. You basically had your suspicions correct. It
was one of the memory modules. A friend of mine who works with assempling
computer said that he once had memtest running 17 hours straight without any
errors and it still was the memory at fault.

I had a test running a full workday- 8 hours. No errors. However when I
removed the faulty memory the crc errors stopped!

Thanks for all your time and help guys, now I can finally get productive!)
