If the USB2 port doesn't correctly detect a plugged in devise is there any
other way to get this done like using 3rd part utilities, changing BIOS
ECT,ECT?

Have you used a different USB device on this port and did it work OK?

There is no software needed for the item in question.. It's a hard drive in
a caddie which is supposed to load through USB2 plug & get auto detected.
It gets identified correctly as a USB2 mass storage device but then has an
errors 10 or 22 which prevents me from seeing what's on disk.

What is the exact error message? What triggers the message - for instance
do you have to try to access the drive to get the error, or does it appear
as part of the device initialization?

Has the drive been formatted?

Device Manager tells me most times that it's not properly initialed & has an
error 10. Once or twice I have instead seen it display code 22.
