If I used Norton Auto Protect, why did it not detect w32sobig virus until it did a manual scan

I use norton antivirus version 9.05.15 on win2k

I have autoprotect on, and download updates frequently.

Why did 2w32.sobig virus not get detected in the email process for receiving, since I have norton
antivirus set to autoprotect. Norton is set to scan incoming email.

Norton did detect it when I ran a manual scan.

Thanks much,

Steve,

I was thinking that maybe, the Antivirus program was not scanning all files...

Perhaps you got the virus before Norton published the pattern update.
