Ducin~1 - Is it Spyware or Virus

I have an old Win 98 machine. It is up to date with Service Packs and has current versions of
Spybot, SpywareBlaster, Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security.

Something strange is occurring.

When I start IE6 or some other programs, a "pop up" file runs and disappears, it is labeled:

Ducin~1

I have tried to find it and eliminate it, however, the above prevention programs have not done so.

I did do a check on installed programs, file search, etc.

Can someone help me get rid of this?

Thanks much,

Some info from Symantec...

1. Check for available drive space

2. Install the latest version of LiveUpdate

http://service1.symantec.com/support/sharedtech.nsf/docid/1999051911110813?Open&src=con_ols_nam

3. Uninstall and reinstall

Note: In some cases the patch may have failed to install properly on the
first attempt and subsequent attempts are unable to complete the
installation because of problems that remain from the first attempt. If you
uninstall the program which LiveUpdate is attempting to patch (such as
Norton AntiVirus 2005) and reinstall it, the program will be reset without
any updates on it. You can then run LiveUpdate to download the update again.
Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance to you in using
the Symantec product.

David,

I am not sure of your reply. I have up to date Norton Antivirus definitions and Norton Internet
Security and Live Update. I have a lot of free space.

Are you saying that the text "Ducin~1" is a Norton message.

Can you please explain what this message is from?

Thanks much,

- Larry

I may be incorrect *IF* the error is "Ducin~1" vs "DUCINS~1".

But you do have NAV.

You'd have to investigate further to see if it really is a pertinent response.

David,

The message flashes very quickly on the screen, it could be DUCINS~1.
So please tell me how to fix it.

I don't know how to fix it. Except for the possible update of the software LiveUpdate. It
is my impression that this is a NAV, LiveUpdate, Win9x/ME problem based upon the number of
posts I have seen that are so similar.

"DUCINS~1"<<

David,

After you mentioned the correct spelling of the error, I was able to google the solution.
I did go to the Symantec site and also searched this term. To my amazement,
nothing on the site came up, when I searched Symantec.

Thank you for the help.

Ian,

Sorry. The ERP exams were paid by my client, so I am not at liberty to give away the exams.
