No - your favorites are in C:/Windows/Favorites. IE is in C:/Program
Files/. If you really want to be sure, why not make a back-up copy onto a
floppy?

No, as favorites are not stored in the ie root directory.
they should remain unchanged. (mine did)

Depending on your operating system, your favorites are stored in
c:\windows\favorites, or in the ..\documents and settings\username\
directory.

No you shouldn't lose your favorites, but nothing is guaranteed. If the
folder corrupts you will lose the data so use the import and export wizard
(file menu) to export a copy of your favorites for safekeeping before doing
the update. Do the same for cookies.
