IEXPLORE.EXE closes browser but not task manager?

If I open IE 6.0 i can browse the web just fine...
when I'm done, I close it....
everything seems ok..
open, close, open, close.... all ok...
heres the catch
if I go into task manager i have IEXPLORE.EXE still using
1,244k But the Browser isn't open anymore.

the more i open and close the browser, the more
IEXPLORE.EXE's are there using exactly 1,244k each
i end them all and everything is fine...
I open and close the browser and again... same issue...

Is there a fix for this?

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

FYI--I have the same problem--only after closing the iexplore.exe incidences
in task manager, they will reappear later eventhough I haven't opened the
browser again. Mine do not use the same k. I use Adaware regularly but not
spybot. I'll try the fixes this weekend and see what hapens. Thanks for
the advice.
