iexplore and explorer page faults

G

Guest

I'm running Windows 98 on an old Toshiba laptop. When I start Internet
Explorer (version 6), I receive the following error message before any page
can even load:

Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module Kernel32.dll at 0167:bff87ede

IE then shuts down and I have no Internet access (no web related program can
find the internet). After running Internet Explorer Repair, I launch IE and
now receive this error message:

iexplore caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at 0000:2e777777

Once again, IE then shuts down and I have no Internet access. I've been
having this problem for weeks and nothing has really worked. I really hope
somone out there can help!

Hi kickinaglass9 :)

Try the following and see itf it helps:

KERNEL32.DLL

Check the following:

IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in KERNEL32.DLL
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers.htm#kernel32

IEXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in KERNAL32.DLL (note the spelling)

Also download, install, update and run the free program here in addition to
your Adaware. Sometimes one will detect something the other did not. It's a
good rule of thumb to always run both SpyBot and Adaware jointly.

You may have a hijacker, malware, spyware or parasites on your system
causing this problem. In addition to running your updated anti-virus
program, you should do the following to be sure none of these are present on
your system. Some variants of malware can replicate themselves over and
over if not removed properly. Please follow all instructions carefully to
be sure your system is thoroughly cleaned

Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:

Be sure to run CWShredder, Ad-aware and Spybot.
Also be sure to use the HijackThis. Please do not post your log to this
newsgroup, but to the SpywareInfo or the Aumha HiJackThis forums
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30, to allow the experts there to

You might also want to get Art's updater, SYS-UP.Zip, here for future
updating of these: http://home.epix.net/~artnpeg/.
(If you download and use the updater from the beginning, it will
automatically handle downloading the other files. Place them in a dedicated
folder after appropriate unzipping, and then run. This scan may take a long
time, as Sysclean is VERY extensive and thorough

It's possible, you might try it, I don't think the restore should do any
harm.

If you do try, please post back and let us know how it worked out. :)
