IEEE 1394 Shown in Network Connections

The Firewire connection is shown in Network Connections under LAN or High
Speed Internet as 1394 connection 2; disabled; firewalled; 1394 net adapter.
I have nothing connected to it externally, and enabling and disabling it
seems to do nothing. The system will not allow me to delete it. Can anyone
tell me why this shows up here? I also have a DSL connection to the Internet
via a 2Wire Router (from Bellsouth) this is shown as Local Area connection 2;
connected; firewalled on the Intel Pro/100 VE NIC Integrated on the
motherboard of my Dell 4700.
The second computer in my (as yet incomplete 2 computer network) accesses
the internet without any problems through the 2Wire router. There are other
problems with this network, but that's another subject. If I can get the
Firewire connection to go away, maybe then I'll be able to get the rest of
the network running O.K.

Many thanks.
