has anyone tried to see what happens if in Vista you try to load IE6? - I
have a CD with IE6 full version on it but I am surmising that it would say
something like 'this version of Internet Explorer is older than the one
currently installed' and it wont let you install it. - Would I be right in
saying that?

Other than that I am fed up that I cannot seem to move the toolbar in IE7
with the back and forward buttons from the top of the browser around on the
screen or at least lower so its underneath the address bar (even though I
have disabled the lock toolbars setting) and the fact that you cannot name
those buttons 'Back' & 'Forward'

Thanks,

Andy.

Use"View", "toolbars"; and also right-click on the favourites "star" to get
choices.
People here are too lazy to look for themselves!

I bought a new car and the brake pedal is in the back seat and the gas pedal
is in the trunk.
How do I drive it?

Adapt...how appropriate an answer.

I tried it but a lot of forms and some other pages didn't work right or look
right in FF so I want to really stick with IE (and version 6 preferably) but
it seems I ant even if I want to in Vista.

Andy.

The only web sites I have had problems with are microsoft.com sites. You
can, you know, use an add on to emulate IE6 in FF which will work even
with Windows Updates.

It's that or upgrade to XP.

Same way you got it home. But your problems are worse than a car designedby elves.
It's a perfect answer because everything he said is locked down. He can either go back to XP or some other OS [Mac is looking so much better every year]
He can't use ie6, because ie6 and ie7 are incompatible.
using ie7 on an XP machine is a waste [that M$ conveniently fails to mention] because the XP OS and ie7 are incompatible. There are thousands of bugs in ie7 using the XP OS. fire it up on a vista machine and those bugs disappear.

He can only move a few things on the bars. And only if he has a 3rd partybar like PDF, Yahoo, etc..
As for right clicking the favorites.. you right click ANYWHERE on the bars to get the same menu to remove/add commands, not just on the favorites.
Changing the commands, he can move them left or right from where they're situated. Otherwise they're locked. with or without the lock toolbar toggled.

Adapt covers all the crap above. You can't change it so adapt.
