Windows XP IE7 lockup

My problem is this::
I tried to do a system restore after a minor problem but could not get it to restore,I went into safe mode which then carried out with no problem.
Since then my browser will not connect to the internet and keeps hanging.
I have deleted IE7 and tried to re-install but my pc wont allow me to do this
(doing all sorts of funny things ).
any help please....

Scan with> AV IE: avast then>ADAWARE/Superantispyware.

then run CCleaner all free downloads.. they should get rid of any nasties

Itsme has pretty much nailed it there..Follow as said and hopefully you'll be ok..

might want to try actually reinstalling Internet Explorer first. Can't do anything without a browser. If you can't get to it on this PC, download it elsewhere and bring it to the computer via thumb drive.
