IE7 error message: Navigation to the webpage was canceled

I am using Windows Vista, Internet Explorer 7, and Google for web searches.
For about a week now, when I try to go to some web sites, I get an
about/blank page with an error message: "Navigation to the webpage was
canceled". At that point, any action that I take results in IE7 ceasing to
work, and I have a hard time shutting it down.

This is a new problem, and I cannot figure out how to fix it. Last week I
ran a Windows Update, and several of the updates were for IE7. I also
installed the newest version of Google Earth, which I uninstalled but that
didn't fix the problem. So I suspect that one of the recent Windows Updates
may be the culprit.

Has anyone else experienced this problem, or has a solution?

TIA,

Halsey

Hi,

Click start and type "Internet Explorer", one of the menu entries will be to
load it with no add-ons. See if running in this mode resolves the issue. If
so, then you need to disable add-ons that load with IE (this can be found
under tools/manage add-ons) as one of them is not agreeing with your system.
