IE7 does not work with IP address

I just installed IE7 beta1. When I launched my application using
http://hostname:8888/index.html, the page was loaded just fine. Note that
hostname is just the name of my computer. Then I replaced hostname with
localhost, it still worked fine. The odd thing is that it did not work when I
replaced hostname with the real IP address of my computer hostname. I checked
the proxy configuration, and verified that both IP and hostname were bypassed
by the proxy server. Any idea on why the IP address does not work on IE7
while it works just fine on IE6?

Thanks,

Where did you get your IE7?

I got it from the MSDN Download for MSDN subscriber.

The beta doesn't have its own group for discussing problems which the
general community wouldn't have a clue about since they can't get it?

MSDN subscribers are pointed to
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general to
discuss IE7 Beta issues, Vanguard. The Beta Team has promised that they'll
monitor that NG more frequently.
