A nearby small non-profit organization uses Access 2002, with 7 client
machines running Windows XP SP2, accessing an Access 2002 database running on
a Win XP SP2 machine acting as server. When we upgraded all 8 hosts to IE7,
the database became inaccessible on all 7 client machines, with this error
msg:
Microsoft Access cannot open this file. This file is located outside your
intranet or on an untrusted site. Microsoft Access will not open the file due
to potential security problems. To open the file, copy it to your machine or
an accessible network location."
This error msg can be found in "Intranet site is identified as an Internet
site when you use an FQDN or an IP address"
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/303650>
Removing IE7 on the client machines solved the problem -- but leaves us with
a less-than-secure IE browser. Why does an IE upgrade to version 7 cause this
problem, and will a future IE patch solve it?
Thanks,
