IE7 and Vista Beta2

I just installed Vista Beta 2 and was trying to use IE7. I had problems
going to almost all webpages. Google came up right away, but Microsoft.com,
msn.com, dell, yahoo, etc... would not show up. The title bar would change
showing that it found the dns entry for it, but the page never loads.

I tried turning off UAC and restarting, but no luck with that either.

Any suggestions?

Anthony--

This shouldn't have anything to do with UAC. Do you have any error showing
up at all on the desktop or looking in eventvwr.msc in run>application>click
the down arrow and go to time you have problem and see if you have any
errors.

Also try this:

1) Delete temporary internet files. Clean %temp% temporary files in run
box.
2) Try creating winsock via this XP KB:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308780/en-us
3) Run spyware scans with Defender,Adaware, and Spybot.
4) Reregister these .dlls in this XP KB:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;555027

Good luck,

This was a clean install, so I would hope that none of your suggestions would
apply. I simply installed Vista Beta 2 and opened up IE7 to download the
audio driver that didn't intall from Dell's website. I noticed the site
didn't work so I thought it was a problem with my network settings. I double
checked all of those and everything was correct. I then tested Google and it
came up immediately. I did get MSN to come up, but it took 10 mins!

I will reinstall the operating system.

Also what might help is go into internet options / connections / lan / and
uncheck "auto detect" settings.

I installed Java 1.5.0_07 because I wanted to see if the Open Office
software would work on Vista. It was not pre-installed. I uninstalled and
re-installed it several times. Each time I installed Java, IE7 would stop
working, and each time I un-installed Java, IE7 would start working again.

Someone else reported that instead of uninstalling Java, he turned off UAC
and IE7 started working. I didn't check this out, but it seems plausible.

As Robin Hebert reported, JRE 6 Beta 2 seems to work okay with IE7, so
uninstall Java 1.5.0_07 and install JRE 6 Beta 2.

"Clean install" or not would have little impact on whatever is the cause of
your not being able to surfin IE Versions 4, 5, 6, 7. I wouldn't ever wipe
and load with to solve your problem. Sure isn't time efficient, nor does it
follow any line of reasoning I can find, and I don't buy that rationale at
all Anthony.

HAMDAN v. RUMSFELD, SECRETARY OF DEFENSE, et al.
No. 05-184. Argued March 28, 2006--Decided June 29, 2006:

"The procedures adopted to try Hamdan also violate the Geneva Conventions.
But in undertaking to try Hamdan and subject him to criminal punishment, the
Executive is bound to comply with the Rule of Law that prevails in this
jurisdiction...That claim leads me to state briefly what I believe the
majority sets forth both explicitly and implicitly at greater length. The
Court's conclusion ultimately rests upon a single ground: Congress has not
issued the Executive a "blank check."
