IE7 and Favorites

I was hoping IE7 would bring improvements in the management of folders but
alas it is fighting me more than ever. I keep two activity level of folders.
Favorites (most active) because when I add a new folder it always goes to
Favorites. Moving folders within Favorites (not into another folder) is where
IE7 is fighting me. My less active folders are contained in a folder of that
name and that folder is alphabetic (automatically) except the one I lost this
morning starting “C†went to the Z positon in an untargeted folder? I had to
go through 89 folders to find it. I would like to see the following.
1. Under Organise Favorites a “FIND†button please.
2. Under any folder, including Favorites, an “ORGANISE†button where one of
the options is alphabetic.
3. An “OPTION†to nominate a folder, existing or new, when a new website is
added.
4. If 3 is not possible then when a new website is added, it is added at the
top of Favorites not to the bottom.
5. An “OPTION†to physically move a Folder in Favorites not in the uncertain
way it is happening now where the folder thinks it is heading toward another
folder and only if it moves to the top of the current screen does a black bar
appear that is easy to lose if you breath too deeply!

Have you tried numbering Favourites folders. Numbered folders are
listed before Alpha folders. May not be what you are wanting but
it helps sort thing the way you want.

Hope this helps.

Some of this functionality is still available in IE7, but you have to
enable the Menu Bar to see it (the Menu Bar is hidden by default). To
see the Menu Bar, right click an empty space on the Tabs bar and select
Menu Bar. Then you can go to Favorites, Organize Favorites. The Menu Bar
appears under the Address Bar, and cannot be moved from there.

IE7 questions should be asked in the Internet Explorer newsgroup. There are
quite a few posts there so peruse them for something on topic before posting
a new message.

Thanks for the link to the IE7 NewsGroup. There is a Catch22 here. A new
questionner looks for a IE7 newsgroup but it is not there (I have just spent
several minutes trying to find it). IE6 is there. A new questionner will
select the XP Group that most closely fits the problem and that could go to
the wrong place. The "Search" facility always produces nil results even when
I can see the subject on the screen. Is it possible to see Internet Explorer
on the left of the window or allow cascading?

I will have to add the NewsGroup to my favorites but I might never have a
reason to return, hopefully. I and others will lose the comments of a
specialist group and others will never know of my question. Anyway of fixing
the dilemma? So should I ask my question again to the NewsGroup?

Thanks Gerry. I was not aware of the treatment of numbers but it is not the
way I work. All folder/file names under my control are descriptive like a
dictionary so that I can manage or find then easily. Appreciation.

Thank you. I will look at it. The purpose of my question is either for
someone to reveal some hidden functionality otherwise to get a message to the
developers that they could do much better. Looks like I might need to post it
again to the specialist group.

Just put the number before the description.

Frankly I don't understand what dilemma you're talking about, and what you
mean by a specialist group. One should always go to the group that's best
or most closely associated with the issue. For internet explorer it's the
IE newsgroup I gave you the links for. You should peruse the questions in
that newsgroup, as I stated previously, to see if there are any similars
with a resolution. If not post a new question there.

As to the cascading question, I don't use the web interface. It's lousy.
What you might not realize is these are actually Usenet newsgroups. They
are best accessed with a newsreader. XP comes with Outlook Express which
can be set up to access newsgroups. Here is a link for how to do that.
Good luck.

I must come back. First put yourself in my position. You know what you know
but I don't know what you know (sorry to sound like DR). Did I know there was
an IE7 NewsGroup? No. Was it possible to find it in a window? No. Was it
possible to find using "Search"? No. Was it possible that no such NewsGroup
exists? Yes. Perhaps I should have simply posted a question about the
existence of a IE7 NewsGroup but hindsight makes a sunny day out of a foggy
one. Your direction came after all of the above. The dilemma is there to be
seen if one looks.

The purpose of a NewsGroup, surely is to bring together the ignorant with
the enlightened. A NewsGroup dedicated to a single topic suggests that the
enlightened includes specialists. I would certainly hope so otherwise what is
the point of putting finger to keyboard.

Of course it is possible, that as one of the ignorant, I have completely
misunderstood the role of NewsGroups.

Once again I would like to thank you for sharing your specialist knowledge
with me.

So MS is supposed to drop everything to arrange XP to YOUR tastes??

Adapt.

Oh dear a reactionary! Did I demand the change? No. Did I suggest
improvements? Yes. How else will we progress. If it happens one day I will be
happy. If not then I can cope. Happy Christmas Grumpy.

Yes, www.google.com . Search on Microsoft IE7 newsgroup. This is the
result:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=microsoft+ie7+newsgroup

The first link in that search result is:

Internet Explorer 7: supportInternet Explorer 7 Newsgroup. Post any

I see no dilemma. Ok, so you didn't know you should post IE7 questions in
the internet explorer newsgroup, and you didn't use a useful tool to direct
you - meaning a google search. Then once you posted here I told you were
you should post your question. Where is this dilemma?
The purpose of a NewsGroup, surely is to bring together the ignorant with
the enlightened.

That's what I tried to do, enlighten you on where to go for the help you
sought.
A NewsGroup dedicated to a single topic suggests that the

I don't see the connection between your first and second sentences here.
You are not understanding the nature of newsgroups. You should be
interested in finding out where the most experts in the area of your
question spend their time. If you have a cardiology problem, see your
General Practioner and the doc suggests you see a cardiologist, and points
out where their office is located, would you maybe make an appointment at
that office? Or would there be a dilmma?
Of course it is possible, that as one of the ignorant, I have completely
misunderstood the role of NewsGroups.

I hope that next time this will help you in getting to the best place for
your issue.
