I try to reset my home page and it works until I restart
my computer. After restart it is set back to its previous
value?

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to

Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

First to check and make sure that there is not a new
program installed through Add/Remove programs. You can
check by date installed or just by removing programs that
are really small and that you don't recognize. The other
thing to check if you have Windows XP professional, is to
check your group policy editor. Go to start, run, and in
the run window type in gpedit.msc. Under Local Computer
Policy->User Configuration->Windows Settings->Internet
Explorer Maintenance->URLs->Important URLs, you can enter
in your home page manually this way. If all else fails,
do a search of the home page that keeps coming up in the
registry and replace every instance of it with the home
page you want to have. Please do this only if you are
comfortable and familiar with making registry changes.
You can also download a spyware program like Spybot from
www.cnet.com and run it to delete any spyware that might
be responsible for this redirection.
