IE6 works for one user but not another on same PC

A friend has a PC with two users. When user A clicks the IE icon, IE starts
the dialler and connects to the internet fine, but when logging on with user
B, a full screen registration page for BT Openworld registration is
displayed that uses it's own dialler to connect to BT. It doesn't provide a
means of saying you're already registered.

How can I make IE just start up without using that registration screen? I've
checked the icon properties on the desktop for both users and they are the
same - "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe".
I'm hoping there is a registry change to the HKET_CURRENT_USER hive.

Thanks for any tips.

Thank you Robear,
For both users, Connections is set to 'Always dial my default connection',
and the default dial-up connection name is the correct one for their ISP.

Try "Never dial a connection"

Try to prove that this problem is independent of IE and then
repost your question in a newsgroup which specializes in the OS
(which you have not disclosed.)

For example, temporarily change both Connections settings
to Never dial... Then when you try to open external pages
you may get a different dial prompt (depending on OS)
or you may have to use the the Work Offline or Retry? prompt
as an opportunity to see what a manual connection looks like
on each account.

Creating new connectoids using the New Connection Wizard
(e.g. click on the Setup... button in the Connections tab)
could also give you some clues.

For a possibly related key phrase for further research try:
"Connection Manager Administration Kit"
(with the quotes on Google, or without them as an "exact phrase"
on the main MS Search site in Advanced mode)

Good luck

Thank you Robert, invoking the new connection wizard fixed the problem. The
OS is Windows XP Pro with SP1.
