IE6 won't give up focus

Hi Folks,
I've noticed some interesting *intermittent* behavior in
IE6+all hotfixes on W2K SP4+all hotfixes:

If I bring an IE6 window to the foreground by clicking on its
entry in the toolbar, or by clicking in its interior, it won't
give up focus when I click on another window or its entry in
the toolbar. If I then click on its border or title bar, it
will give up focus.

If, OTOH, bring the IE6 window to the foreground by clicking on
its title or border, then it gives up focus.

This is occasional behavior. Sometimes IE6 gives up focus
as expected.

Has anyone else seen this behavior? Any idea how to fix it?

TIA,
-Jeremy

Yes, I've seen this a lot. I also see this if I right-
click on a link and choose Open in New Window. The new
window grabs hold of the focus and won't let go unless I
click on the title bar of the new window first. Have you
found any fix for this?

Steve,
No, no fix so far.

I find that if I click anywhere on the IE window's border
(or on its title bar), IE will give up focus.

The strange thing is, it is an intermittent problem. I.e.,
IE doesn't always refuse to give up focus, only sometimes.

And I can't determine what conditions make it not want to
give up focus.

Weird.

It seems several others have the same problem:

http://groups.google.com/groups?q=IE6+focus+group:microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser

This guy says add-ins like AdAware can cause a similar problem
(wherein IE6 *steals* focus away from a window that already has
it), and that using a removal tool to clean up Reg entries fixed
that problem:

The only add-in program I use is the Google Toolbar v2.0.95:

http://toolbar.google.com/

Perhaps it is some interaction between this & IE6?

Anyway, I'll just keep making a couple of extra clicks (sometomes)
until MS gets around to fixing it.

But *please* post if you do find a solution.

-Jeremy(I will do the same.)
