Hi. i need help with mi IE6 with SP2.
For a few days now mi IE hasnt been able to load up my hotmail account or
even google.com! For hotmail, it allows me to access the main page but as
soon as i log in, it stops working and displays "page cannot be displayed"
message. It does the same thing for google and a few other sites as well. I
have checked over many of the support articles on support.microsoft.com and
taken many steps to try and fix the problem but it hasn't worked.

I am having a similiar problem. MY IE6 will not work (thanks to Mozilla I
can still get online). My MSN Messenger does not work, several programs that
rely on IE6 do not work (smallball, Mcafee VirusScan, etc.) My Outlook
express works, but HTML pages do not load. I have gone through all the
recommend fixes:

- modify registry setting from 1 to 0 (see reinstall IE6 article)
- tried to reinstall -- I still get the "newer version installed" argument
- tried to install IEFIX -- ran through all the checks, still doesn't work
- reinstalled SP2

what else could be wrong, what else can I do?

Uninstall SP2 from Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs and then try

XP

Make sure your anti-virus is turned off.

To all that wonder why "page cannot be displayed" :
You do not state what firewall you are using
If you are using a firewall that has a privacy setting
that may be the reason why you have the result "page cannot be
displayed" or IE is slow to find the URL or display it.
The same problem has been bugging me since I upgraded my eTrust
firewall.
I have read every post on this issue and cleaned all my spy and adware
with everything that was reccomended.
Still there was no joy till I tweaked my firewall settings.
Believe me I have little hair left!!!
I hope this helps.........
