Hi,

I'm experiencing a odd behavior in IE6 after upgrading to Windows XP Service
Pack 2.

The problem is that the browser window automaticly close it self when the
user clicks on a download link. After a few days of trying to isolate the
problem we came to the conclusion that the problem only occours if the
browser window is a child of another window (in our case a href with a
target "_blank") and that the download link is somewhere inside a frameset.

A page demonstrating the problem can be found here.

The version of IE is 6.0 2900.2180.spsp_sp_rtm.040830-2158

All in all it sounds alot like the a bug in IE5.5 described in the link
below, but with a new twist if the child window contains a frameset.

Any ideas appreciated

Thanks

That work fine for me and I have exactly same version. So you propbaly have
some conflicting software, most likely some components of IE did not get
updated. Try to unistall sp2 and then re-install it.

By the way, I never "lick links" like you wrote to subject field. Quite
funny, though ;-)

Thanks for testing testing my problem.

We get the same error on numerous machines over here though. The only thing
in common with all these installations of windows xp and sp2 is that most of
them ought to be swedish versions. The application act as a part of a
e-education system serving files to students and we get reports on this
problem every now and then.

Maybe i've licked that download link one time too many, it's getting sticky
;-)
