ie6 will not load pages

Internet Explore 6 sp2 with all patches on XP sp2 Dell laptop.
Internet browsing will not work... Keeps displaying page cannot be found. I
can FTP, NSlookup, ping, net view all from the command window. Did last know,
did system restore two weeks back, reinstalled IE 6 sp2. Reinstalled network,
all services are running no errors reported in Event log.

Anyone have any idea?

To disable any spyware [which are probably likely] Start\Run\type; msconfig
and hit enter\in the Startup tab look for any unknown non system process and
disable it unchecking it.. next go to Start\Run\regedit\ and look in the Run
keys of the Local Machine and Current User Hives and delete any unknown
suspicious value.... Normal there are; Default value, antivirus values
[maybe a couple], msoffice, messenger and CTFMON... delete any other value
if present.

Follow paths to look in the registry Run keys.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Also run antispyware applications like Adaware SE, Spybot Search & Destroy
and CWShredder.

And go to Control Panel\Internet Options\Programs\and Click on "Restore Web
Settings"
