IE6 vs. Netscape 6 and OWA w/SSL

I just went through and configured a dmz OWA box that
pulls from a Exch5.5 server internal. I generated a cert
and plopped down SSL and am able to succesfully access OWA
from the console.

Now....

I test OWA w/SSL access from outside, i.e. home, via
laptop at another location, and get a buddy to try it from
his place.

It takes over 2 minutes using IE6 to even display the
first page. That's not acceptable.

We perform the same procedure from Netscape 6.2 and the
page loads up almost instantaenously (read: under 10
seconds on broadband). We accept the cert and we're in
checking e-mail.

With IE6 not only does it take over 2 minutes but each
time we go to the page afterwards, irregardless of the
fact that we import the cert, it still prompts us for the
cert.

Am I missing something here or is IE6 simply a piece of
dung when it comes to negotiating SSL connections? Any
tips, links and proverbial light from heaven is
appreciated. If there's a way to smack IE6 around so that
it will perform as well as Netscape in this particular
area, I'm all ears.

Otherwise I tell all our end-users that Netscape is the
way to go.

No takers? Perhaps I should cross-post this into a dozen
other forums that bear some form of kinship to the matter?
