IE6 very slow to load pages

Robert

I recently purchased a machine using XP Pro & IE6. I use
bellsouth DSL on two machines running from the same
network hub. One machine is having no delays in
accessing internet. The second machine is having
difficulty pulling up web pages. When you start IE6, it
may take up to 30 seconds to pull in your homepage
(yahoo.com). It will take up to 45seconds to load any
subsequent page. So far I have reset all web browser
setting back to factory settings; I have run antivirus
software to make sure this machine is clean (it is
clean); I have checked the driver for the network card
and reinstalled it (it shows at 100mbs). I am not sure
what else to check. Can anyone help?

you may have too many programs running or starting,
taking away some ram. or too much junk in your temp files.

I am also having this problem. I have an XP Pro, IE6.0,
SP1 with all windows updates on an AMD 1.9, 60 gigdrive,
512MB ram machine.

The machine used to be fast as hell using a Linksys cable
modem. One day it just went to a crawl. I believe only
IE6.0 is effected because updates to programs are still
blazing fast. It is when IE6.0 initiates the webpage that
it becomes slow.

I have tried everything with the exception of reloading
XP. I am about to do an XP repair to see if that fixes it
but who knows. The only other thing I can think of was a
virus I had but quickly removed it might have corrupted a
Windows system file in which case an XP repair should fix
it.

If someone gives you a good answer I would appreciate you
sharing it with me.

Thanks Gene
