ie6 - userid:password broken

Ramesh [MVP]

This is a result of the latest Microsoft Windows Update. BTW, this update resolves the major vulnerability. The following URL syntax is no longer supported in Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer after you install this software update:
http(s)://username:password@server/resource.ext

A security update is available that modifies the default behavior of Internet Explorer for handling user information in HTTP and HTTPS URLs: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;834489

This security update is a must.

I used to be able to enter password sites using
http://userid:[email protected] Now all of a sudden this has
stopped working. I am able to enter using the http://www.website.com and
then entering the userid and password in the popup box.

Is there a setting I screwed up?

Thanks
