IE6 Sp1 will not download any files

Well IE6 seems to work fine until I want to download a
file. It goes through the routine and I see my DSL modem
light activity but there is no download/save to..dialog
box. When the download is complete a blank page opens and
at the bottom left side of status bar it says 'done'.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling with my XP Pro
CD. No good. Sometimes the setup menue starts and I let
it go through the setup process. It will download all
files then says "This program has not passed the Win Xp
test, setup will now exit" ..... CRAP! what a circle.....

OK Now I'm about to go to Opera full time any ideas???

Any files????

If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
The key does not normally exist.

Any files????-----any files...PDF's, etc. nada...nutting
hunny, zilch.....;-) FOllowed your directions no such key.
