IE6 SP1 History folder

Steve

I upgraded my 98SE machine from IE 5.5 to IE6 SP1, and now
i can now longer view any history data when I select
history from the tool bar. I do see some folders of what
i believe are IE 5.5 data, but no data since I did my
upgrade. Any ideas?

Go to Tools > Options > General. In the History area, make sure the number
of days to keep history is NOT zero.

No, it is set to 7. I wonder could the inst*** have
corrupted the history file some how. I have removed and
reloaded and get the same problem...

Steve,
This can be caused by the ActiveX Control filters in McAfee AntiVirus. If
you disable the "Active X Controls" filter under the Internet Filters in
VirusScan 6.0 the IE History should work properly.

Your History folder may be damaged.
See: How To Delete the Internet Explorer Temporary Internet Files:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
Note: Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder and a new one will be created when you restart.

I had the same problem. Only solved by reverting to
IE5.5. Tried several times to reinstall IE6 but always
caused the same "index.dat" in history. I'll stick with
IE5.5 until somebody figures it out.
