IE6 slow

I just got the WindowsXP, so I'm still trying to get used to it. I have IE6,
with Highspeed internet. It used to be real fast, but the kids downloaded
all kinds of stuff (BearShare, and Kaazaa). Kazaa has been removed(?), but
the BearShare is still on, and I don't really suspect this as the culprit.
Sometimes the internet is real fast, in the morning after I've turned the pc
on, but then all of a sudden it slows down to a crawl.
I've got Adaware installed, and keep finding bugs when I run it.
I just ran NortonAV, and it found 20 suspicious files, mostly Adware stuff,
and could only delete 5 of them.
If anyone knows of any other program or solutions, I would appreciate any
HELP I can get....as far as criticism, I get plenty around the house, don't
need it from around the world (W????n, this means you!)

You might want to try an online virus scan just in case
Norton missed something, it's free:

Also try Ad-aware which is also free, remember to update
after installation:

was good of you to remind me of that one.
