IE6 Search Freezeups

Posted on 6/20 that IE6 was freezing up everytime I ran a search using any
search program (ie Copernic Agent, WebFerret, Google, etc. Tried suggested
programs to elimanate spy-ware. Also re-installed IE6 and new video driver.
All to no avail. Problem started about 2 weeks ago. It appears that many
people on this board are having similar problems, many of which have started
during this time frame. Need some help.

Try this and see if it helps.


IE Freezes Unextectedly

Try turning off Sun Java in IE6 in Tools | Internet options |Advanced tab.

Uncheck the box marked:
"Use Java 2 v1.4. for <applet>"

Test it on www.thesun.co.uk

Are you using Zone Alarm. The latest version (5.0) has caused a great deal
of problems with IE and some Anti Virus programs. IE would freeze requiring
a hard reset/reboot to unlock the PC.

I have reverted back to ZA v4.5 and that appears to have resolved the
problems with regard to IE6 that I was having.

The newest Free version of ZA 5.0 works fine. I have it instead of the Pro.
It does to have the troublesome AV in it. As I have my own anyway, I didn't
need the Pro. I have it on a testy WinME system to boot. I have not seen
any of the problems like with the Pro.
