IE6 search bar links don't load in Main Page

I have a search engine that comes up on the left side of the window when I
click search. I type in the search topic and links come up. When I click on
the links in this search they do not open in the main window unless I right
click and do it manually. I didn't have to do it this way in the past, but
now I have too. How can I set it so when I click on the links in the search
they open in the main window as before?

I loaded IE7 for about 2 months and it was a disaster, so I changed back to
IE6 and this is the only issue that has changed. How can I fix it?

Hi Scott,

What is the search provider/publisher for the side bar? Some publishers have
changed their side search bars to be IE7 compatible and there are now IE6
and IE7 versions (eg. www.acronymn.com).

You may find my listing at http://www.iecustomizer.com helpful to find a
replacement.

Regards.

Hi Scott,

Theres a problem with the design of the Altavista side bars. When you enter
a search term in the text box and press enter, the results are displayed in
the side bar below the Search text box and button (the links to other search
engines , images etc. disappear).
Then clicking on a search result link, the link opens in the main page....
as expected.
However,
If you enter a search term (from the start of loading the side bar) and then
click one of the other search engine links eg. images, you would expect to
see the results displayed in the search pane. However instead the AltaVista
Image search page instead displays in the main window, without your search
terms....
Yes I am aware of this....
Unfortunately this is a design 'feature' of AltaVista side bars. You may
like to view my full listing of them at
http://www.iecustomizer.com/?url=iepanels/?txtProvider=*AltaVista

You may like to try my homepage multi-search replacement for the AltaVista
search engine... you enter one search term then select a number of search
engines (eg, web, images, wallpaper) and a separate windows/tabs open to
show results for each search engine option.

http://www.iecustomizer.com/?url=homepages/?txtProvider=47

or

http://www.iecustomizer.com/ (at the bottom of the welcome page you will
find download links for AltaVista, Google and Live versions of a
multi-search homepage.

Regards.

Hi Rob:

Hey, thanks for the info. I have gone to your page, but I really don't
understand what it means or how to use what you post. All I know is that
when I click the search button and the AltaVista pops up ready to search in
the sidebar window on the left, I can no longer click the links that result
and have them show in the main frame, or pop-up without me first right
clicking and then select, "open in a new window". It didn't used to do that.
There must be a way of just turning that on even though I cannot find it.
I've been to the advanced options under tools-internet options.

Thanks!
