IE6 problems in two profiles, works fine in mine. PLEASE help.

Paul

Hi, I posted this message a couple of days a go and it was completely
ignored. Would somebody please help me?

I have 3 different profiles in my computer for different people in my
house (PIII running W98SE). Well, my brother's profile doesn't seem to like
IE6:
In his profile some web pages work, and some don't, but I haven't been able
to find a pattern. Some of the websites that don't work are Yahoo, Google,
and MSN. I mean, he can get to Yahoo, forexample, but once he logs in, none
of the links or buttons work, except for the sign out link... so he cannnot
check emails or anything, just sign in and out. It's like the browser goes
numb, it doesn't even make that clicking sound that one normally hears when
clicking a link.
In MSN there are one or two links that work in the whole site. When I
right-click the numb links and try to open in new window, the new window
opens blank, with nothing in the address bar.

And, of course, IE works just fine in my profile! Just so you know, I
recently formatted my hard drive and re-installed everything in my computer,
I have the latest
reference file for Ad-Aware and CA's Antivirus, I have ZoneAlarm, and I just
installed the latest critical updates from the Microsoft website...so,
WHAT'S UP WITH IE6?

Please help and thanks in advance.

Hi Paul :)

In view of the fact that IE works fine, and the others, with all other
profiles, this one being the only one that does not, it seems reasonable
that there is something wrong with the profile, not IE or the others. If it
were a problem with the others or IE, then it would not work for all.
Carefully compare the settings and such for this one, and the others to be
sure something has not been overlooked.

I suggest that you double check the setups, spelling and perhaps the
authorizations, or permissions, for that profile.

Hope this helps.

Jan :)
