IE6 - "Page cannot be displayed"

Don

In IE6 no web site can be displayed. I've checked for
viruses and spyware -- none found. Netscape displays every
web site OK, IE6 does not. Although each time I try a web
site, its name appears in the address bar, just does not
load the page for display. I've downloaded and installed
window scripts 5.6, I tried LSPFix for faulty winsock
files, nothing seems to help. Problem just started
occurring -- I did not make any changes to the PC to get
this. Please help.

Me too! This began to occur around March 10th. It will
only flash the Web address for a moment, then the Cannot
display page error appears.

At around the same time, an error message: "Common Client
User Session could not begin" -- started to appear

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

What programs did you use to check for spyware?
Did you update them first:
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
CWShredder is also available here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/cwshredder.zip
**Post your HijackThis log to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**
Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:
http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm.
If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

This happened to me about 6 weeks ago & have not been able to fix yet - Downloaded Netscape and it works fine - Use Outlook express & has no problems - after trying all suggestions, tried to reinstall - what a nightmare - followed instructions in changing registry key to "0" so that only IE6 (Not outlook express) would install -- completely removed all email from Outlook Express & had to restore XP to get back to everything working fine except IE6 -- If anyone has a solution, I would really appreciate hearing from you - I am very happy with Netscape even though I never used it before -- the only problem is I can't use the Office or XP update sites in Netscape - Way to go MS - if there were any reasonable alternatives I would surely be looking that way

Hi Frank and all others that share this nightmare. I have
tried all the things mentioned here as well as the parasite
seach programs you suggested - still no luck at all. I am
at my wits end
