IE6 "page cannot be displayed"

I am having trouble with pages displaying using IE6. I
have tried to run windows update and I get a prompt that
I must be connected to the internet, when I am already
online. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Do
I have a setting wrong somewhere? Has anyone else
experienced this problem and resolved it? It is very
frustrating.

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
