When I try to open Internet Explorer (version 6), I get
the error message: Internet Explorer has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience. AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer:
6.0.2800.1106 ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset:
436af78c

I am running Windows XP (with Service Pack 1). Thanks.

First eliminate any scumware.
