My Explorer browser suddenly stopped working yesterday--I
can't get on any websites with it (it keeps giving me
that "this page cannot be displayed" message). My internet
connection is fine, I can still send and receive mail on
Outlook, and my Active Desktop appears to be working fine.
I have Windows XP and haven't had any problems with IE or
the operating system until now. Strangely, the problem
seemed to start just after I received a barrage of
those "Meow :)" viruses in my Yahoo email...could the two
be related? What can I do to fix the problem since I can't
download anything on my computer?

The fact that you have submitted this problem means that
you have access to the internet from a computer. To check
whether you are virus free go to F-Prot.com They have an
anti-virus program that you can download that fits on a
floppy. Boot on a Win98 boot disk to an A: prompt and then
put in the F-Prot disk and type f-prot.exe c: You can get
the W98 bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com Hope this helps.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back

Thanks--the only problem is that my computer has XP, not
Win98. Is there a version for XP? Also, I have Norton
Antivirus, and my computer turned up clean after a full
system scan, but is it possible that I still have a virus?

Take care,
Christy
