Hi all:
I just did a re-install of XP Home and all went well. However, I notice
now that a couple of sites on the internet I used to use that use Java
applets do not work. From what I can determine on the internet, Microsoft
is not supporting Java anymore and as I have a new IE6 installation, it
would appear it is not there. Does anyone know a work around or anything
about this ?? Thanks in advance.

Microsoft still is support Java in Internet Explorer. They are not allowed
to distribute it. You will need to find the old Microsoft version off the
Internet or install Sun's version.

Sun(makers of java) sued ms cause ms took suns java runtime environment and
made their own, better functioning java enviroment. Since it was better than
suns they cried and now ms cant make it or distribute it anymore. Either
search google for the ms virtual java machine or goto suns website and
download java from them.

Greetings --

As the result of a lawsuit by Sun Microsystems, and the ensuing
settlement, Microsoft is no longer allowed to provide its own Java
Virtual Machine to Windows users. You can get almost the same
functionality by downloading Sun's version of Java from
http://java.sun.com/getjava/index.html. If you want the broader
capabilities of Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine, it is still
available from a lot of 3rd-party web sites, some of which are listed
here: http://www.java-virtual-machine.net/download.html.

You need a Java Virtual Machine (JVM). Get one here:
http://java.sun.com/getjava
