IE6 Issue

All,

XP Pro SP2, IE 6 SP1, OE 6, Office 2003 SP 1, Norton AntiVirus/Firewall
2003 - all updates.

Ok...whilst browsing the web using IE...things go well; pages load ok,
images are all fine etc etc...

But then, totally at random IE will 'seem to hang'. By that I mean when I
click a hyperlink, or select a web page the progress bar at the bottom of
the page seems to take forever....and if I do let the process work, then
after a while it comes back with the error that 'the page cannot be
displayed, please check internet settings'...

The only way to resolve this issue is to reboot the machine.

Please, has anyone else experienced this, and can any one help resolve it?

Thx in advance.

Hi there CeNo,

Please follow the steps below to repair Winsock:

1. Click Start, run, type "cmd" (with out quotation marks) and click OK.
2. In the DOS window, type the below command and hit enter.

netsh winsock reset catalog

Restart your PC when prompted.

You may also like to try this workaround as it may work in most cases:

1. Click Start, run, type "inetcpl.cpl" (with out quotation marks) and click
OK.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Browsing, uncheck the "Enable third-party browser extensions
(requires restart)" check box.
4. Click OK.

Meena,

Many thx for reply!

Question for you though.

Is this going to affect my cable (Telewest) Broadband connection in anyway?
(The first suggestion, that is!)

Thanks again,

CeNo.

First eliminate any spyware.
What You Should Know About Spyware

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of these programs ,
download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:
