IE6 is VERY slow, occasional error crashes - HELP!

J

Josh N.

Currently running Windows XP pro, v.2002, No anti-virus
software or personal firewalls (firewall is on router).

Recently windows auto-update moved me up to IE 6. Since
then, browsing is VERY slow. Esp., trying to fill in
blanks on web forms is VERY slow, extreme delay in typed
letters vs. showing up in boxes on page. I
disabled "active scripting" under custom security
settings menu (tools, security, custom level) and that
has seemed to help speed up somewhat. But I keep having
to go back and enable active scripting to visit certain
sites (like hotmail)..! Is this a Java Script problem?
Please advise source and/or fix ASAP please!

Also, IE6 tends to crash and close whenever I use the
keyboard shortcut for closing windows (ALT + F4) more
than a few times in a session. Brings up an error msg,
asks me whether I want to send an error report, then
closes, forcing me to re-launch IE. Advice?

Thanks in advance!

The same happens to me and I am using Windows ME. My outlook Express also
takes over 20 seconds to open and opening any message is VERY slow. I have
uninstalled to version 5.5 but no help. I have scanned for spyware but no
changes even though a few were found. I would appreciate any help...here are
my vitals

Look for a file system.css if found rename it OLDsystem.css

Some parasite removal do not delete that malware.
