1) When IE6 can't find a website, it jumps to Overture.com.
But if Overture.com isn't available, (like if the internet
connect is off), then IE6 goes hog wild and endlessly
opens new error windows until my computer crashes! Well,
if I could figure out how to just let it stay on the error
page and not force a jump to Overture.com, then I could
stop that stupid problem. How do I do that?
2) I got tired of wasting my time trying to stop IE6 from
crashing my computer, so I figured maybe IE5 would be
better. But guess what, I uninstalled IE6, but it's still
installed! I clicked in IE5 setup, but I got a message
that since I had a newer version (IE6) I could install
IE5!!!
3) Another irritation is the address bar. When my home
page loads, the address bar automatically erases the
address and says something like "type new address or
search word here..." So, if I want to just erase part of
the address and type in what I need, I cannot. I need to
type more because IE6 makes me.
4) And that automatic dailer (not just IE6, but all IE's),
it has caused my computer to lock up more times than I can
count. It pops up when I don't want it and many times
when I want it, it's not there. Well I finally figured
out how to disable it. Now I use a dailer that I control.
It's only there when I want it.
Microsoft has too many automatic tasks that take control
away from us dumb users. And it's much too time consuming
to try to figure out how to control the automatic task
masters that microsoft sticks in so many places. Maybe
there are easy ways to control everything, but unless
you've spent hours and hours and hours on it, you can't
find the easy way or even a hard way.
Does anyone remember the past when everyone thought that
technology would let us work less than 40 hours a week?
It turns out that technology has caused people to work
more just keeping up on how to keep the technology working.
