Hello,

I have a machine running windows 2000 server and I
run internet explorer 6 SP1. I am directly connected
to the internet but need to use a proxy under my company policy.
So under LAN settings I setup manually the proxy (http).

When trying to access a site it seems that it TOTALLY bypass
the proxy mechanism and tries directly the site.

I installed firefox and it seems that it is working perfectly
with the proxy. However I need to use IE.

Lastly I installed windump and verified that IE does not even contact
the proxy and goes directly to the site.

In the security tab I set everything to the lowest level and I
accept all the cookies in the machine.

In every other machine I tried in this lan it worked perfectly fine
(in IE) other than this.

Thanks

there are free proxy checkers on the web that will report your IP, plus any
http headers that give your true IP. These proxy checkers will tell you
instantly if you are proxied or not

checked.

my browser is not using proxy information as if they are not
there!!!!!!

Is there any chance that it is something like my profile in the
windows 2000 machine that it is not letting it?

Thanks

you might double check that "automatic detect" is unchecked, else your manual
config might get overridden

I am having exactly the same problem on W2K3 Server. Just ignores whatever
proxy settings I put in. I have 2 different proxies I can use and ignores
both of them whether I specify them manually or using auto-configure script.
Auto detect is not checked. The proxy server does not see the request come in.
