ie6 idles between pages

ie6, xp, dsl... when i go to a new page, the page loads but doesn't respond for 15 to 20 seconds. if a new window opens, the current window becomes idle for the same length of time then the new window will open. that's about all i know about it. anything that helps is appreciate

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
