ie6 icon diappeared from the desktop

I'm using WINDOWS ME and had recently "upgraded" to ie6
sr1 and the security patch. One day I noticed that the
icon had disappeared from the desktop. I have uninstalled
and re-installed many times but can't get the icon (NOT
SHORTCUT BUT ICON WHERE I CAN RIGHT CLICK AND CHANGE
SETTINGS ETC) to show up on the desktop.
ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED.

Check "Show Internet Explorer on the desktop"
