IE6 hyperlink problems (2nd submission 1st failed)

I recently had to reinstall XP + SP2, since then I have had a strange
problem with hyperlinks.
Firstly I have designed a website since the reinstallation and find that if
I preview it in IE6 browser the navigation/hyperlinks do not work, however
when the site is uploaded they work fine.Hyperlinks in other sites that I
built prior to reinstall also work perfectly in Preview in IE6 broswer
They also work OK in Firefox-Netscape- Opera
I have also found that online hyperlinks in other peoples websites that are
embedded in a table do not work, though those on the main page do.
Is there any way to correct this strange fault please.

1. You click on a link and an IE window doesn't even open:

2. You click on a link and an IE window opens but it doesn't load: Try
re-registering all of the DLLs listed in this KB article...

3. Installing the latest Cumulative Patch for IE may solve the problem as a
side-affect. Check in at Windows Update.
