IE6 Hangs

I am running IE6 with Win XP w/SP1 installed. After
anywhere from a few minutes to 20 minutes of surfing the
computer will lock-up. I will have to do a reboot. I have
a friend that is having the same problem who is running
Win 98. Not sure why this has just started happening
within the last month. Is anyone else having this
problem? I have all of the lastest patches installed. I
have ran Norton's Anti-Virus and Ad-Ware 6.0. with neg
results.

I'm having the same basic problem except that my computer doesn't lock-up. Only IE seems to lockup. If I go to the Task Manager to END TASK it shows that IE is not responding. If I selected IE to end task, I'm able to start IE again, but I never know when IE will lockup or hang again. Hope a solution is available.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Dave,
I am having the same problems; probably the last 2 months
(sometimes can go for an hour, but eventually it locks
up!). I'm on Win XP/Vers 6.02 with all updates installed
also. No problems reported by any internal diagnostics or
Symantec System Works. Looked inside MS website - no help
so far.
