IE6 hangs opening a PDF file link

I am using Win XP Pro, Acrobat 5.0 and IE 6.0. I am having frequent hangups
when browsing and have so far determined the following:

When I click on this PDF link the system stops responding. Ctrl-alt-del
shows the page not responding. The link is:
http://www.castawayrestaurant.com/pdf/01_brunch.pdf.

Note: I have a second "identical" system that works fine with the same web
page. It opens the link in Adobe as expected.

More info: I tried a page with this pdf link and it work properly!
ftp://ftp.linksys.com/datasheet/wrt54gx-ds.pdf

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Even more info!! If I click the link in this message adobe successfully
opens the file. Thus, adobe opens the link but not within IE?

SP2 is not installed SP1 is the version. I did try Acrobat reader 6.0 with
no success. What is confusing is that other systems are working.

I am also using XP SP2 and experienced the same problem with Acrobat reader
6.X. Actually, I got the same problem with Acrobat reader 5.X. However,
the problem gone with Acrobat reader 7.X. 7.X open pdf documents much
faster and I get no hang anymore.

I have uninstalled all Acrobat versions and reinstalled Acrobat reader 7.0.
I also reinstalled IE 6. Problem still exists!

Then I would suggest perusing some of the solutions proposed to fix Acrobat
problems at:

http://www.deq.state.id.us/pdf.cfm#problem_one

Scroll down to the section titled "Need Help?".

I suppose you could also try disabling the Browser Helper Object
"AcroIEHelper.dll". Then close IE.

Now launch IE and re-enable this BHO.

Don't know about XP Pro SP1, but in XP Home SP2 the BHO access is at
Tools > Internet Options > Programs (tab) > Manage Add-ons (button)
